|
| RN
to BS in Nursing Completion Degree |
The RN to BS in Nursing Completion Degree
is widely considered a standard requirement
for registered nurses (R.N.s) seeking broader
professional responsibilities and career opportunities.
Kaplan University's Bachelor of Science in
Nursing program enables R.N.s to complete
the education needed to enhance their skills
to better meet the demands of patient care
and qualify for new opportunities in specialized
nursing and management fields. A bachelor's
degree in nursing is essential for those serving
in case manager and supervisory positions,
and the program is also an excellent foundation
for those wishing to pursue graduate nursing
studies.
Kaplan University's degree program offers
an accredited, online R.N. to B.S.N. degree
completion program that centers around health
promotion, risk reduction, disease prevention,
information and health care technologies,
ethics, human diversity, management theory,
and health care system and policies. A defining
feature of the curriculum is its increased
focus on leadership. The program features
a capstone course, a requisite clinical course,
and a professional development plan that includes
career planning.
Disclosure
The RN to BS in Nursing Completion Degree
program is regionally accredited by NCA and
has interim approval from the Iowa Board of
Nursing. The program is scheduled for review
to be considered for full approval in June
2006. This program is currently seeking national
accreditation and will be reviewed by the
Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education
(CCNE) scheduled for November 2005.
This program is not one hundred percent online:
a lab will need to be completed and students
must also participate in a clinical. The lab
and clinical are required and will need to
be completed in the state of licensure. BSN
students are subject to these and additional
policies published in the Nursing Student
Handbook.
Who Should Take This Program?
This program is for registered nurses who
want to complete their four-year degree to
prepare for health care leadership positions
and gain the educational foundation needed
for the pursuit of graduate studies in nursing.
The typical student may have prior work experience
or course credits that can be transferred
toward their degree.

baccalaureate-prepared registered nurses.

knowledge through theory and research.

practicum) is reality based, application
oriented, and develops essential skills
in leadership.
Admission requires you to have a valid
current U.S. RN license and demonstrate
three years full-time RN work experience.
You must also hold a BSN degree or baccalaureate

of Science in Nursing/Integrative Health program
(MSN/IH) |
The Master of Science in Nursing/Integrative
Health program (MSN/IH) enhances the knowledge
and skills of registered nurses with baccalaureate-degree
preparation. The program prepares advanced
practice nurses to function in leadership
roles in practice and educational settings.
Advanced nursing theory and research provide

continued learning. Participants develop a
proposal for an integrative health care project
or course, based on their current or future
work setting.
The MSN/MHA program is designed to provide
nurses with a unique blend of advanced nursing
and healthcare related business skills. The
program combines essential elements from both

The core incorporates the theory of nursing
influence, influence of nursing research,
and advanced practice of nursing. The major
includes advanced course work in nursing:
management of families and aggregates, administration,
and education. The cognate is fulfilled
through the MHA program content.
